While receiving packages this holiday season, remember today’s Chart of the Day from an article in the Wall Street Journal titled, “The Biggest Delivery Business in the U.S. Is No Longer UPS or FedEx.” Though Amazon will now be the largest with an impressive 5.9 billion packages so far in 2023, it has not “yet” reached the U.S. Postal Service’s 7.2 billion in 2022. On a side note, the U.S. Postal Service delivered an astounding 127 billion total pieces of mail in 2022 and with 333 million people in the US this works out to roughly 380 pieces of mail to each person every year, or just above one piece of mail per person per day.
