Today’s Chart of the Day from Mark Perry shows the price changes for various goods and services over the last 24 years, from January 2000 to June 2024. Overall inflation was 85%, or roughly 3.5% a year. The highest price changes were hospital services and college tuition, with increases of 256% and 187% respectively. The lowest being televisions and computers, that are cheaper by 98% and 74% respectively. The question is, “Are things subsidized more expensive because they are subsidized, or as result?”
